Ubercoolische pokes fun at Hawtin’s The Cube

Ubercoolische.com did a really good job of satirising the we-take-ourselves-too-seriously minimal techno scene a couple of years ago, and now the funny men behind it are poking fun at Richie Hawtin and Minus’ new concept The Cube.
They’ve just launched a new URL called: cubercoolische.com, which is pretty funny.
The first post they’ve done is a photo of Magda holding The Cube with the caption: ‘“Check out my new Phillipe Starck designer kettle. The only problem is I can’t find where to put the water!” Magda on tea duty earlier.’
(In a couple of hours Richie Hawtin and the Minus crew will unveil The Cube at their Contakt event at St. Andrews Hall in Detroit - the party is one of the official after parties of Movement 2008. So we’ll check out The Cube and report back here on Beatportal in a bit.)
Since Richie Hawtin announced The Cube, there has been quite a bit of negative feedback on the web, which could be because nobody actually knows what it is.
Another website under the URL richieskyhawtin.freewebspace.com takes the piss out of Richie Hawtin’s resemblance to Star Wars’ Luke Skywalker with the caption ‘May The Cube Be With You’.
But negative publicity is still publicity, and The Cube is one of the most-talked about things in electronic music currently (no doubt this was all part of Richie Hawtin’s plan).
On Minus’ new website contakt-events.com it suggests that The Cube is some sort of interactive cube of light that interacts with music and human energy.
Presumably the intensity of The Cube’s lights increases as the music gets more intense.
As for cubercoolische.com/, let’s see where they take it.
